I am looking at getting a new video/graphics card for my new system and I am wondering if there are any recommendations. I have been looking at the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700 info is here http://www.nvidia.com/page/qfx_mr.html

Anyone have any suggestions?

What are you looking to do with it? Game? Edit? 3d?

Mac or PC?

Most graphics cards today can handle video editing just fine. The big question is about your planned monitor. Do you need a 10-bit display (now or future)? I run an ATI FireGL card in my editing workstation. What is your budget?

You don't necessarily need a Quadro or a FireGL. Best bang for the buck out there right now would be an ATI Radeon HD4850. ATI (AMD) is developing plugins for Adobe to accelerate video transcoding using the integrated HD decode engine. And there's a free download for a standalone transcoder. You have to pay for NVidia's transcoder.

Thanks VP,

I am on a PC
I have read that the quadro works well with After Effects and Adobe Premiere which is what my target environment will be. Funny the other one mentioned is the FireGL

I will look into the ATI card you suggest
