would you recommend going to sva for a fresh out of highschool student with pretty much no background in film? Has anyone had any experience there?

In my personal opinion. Unless your going to a prestigous film school like USC or NYU, where the chances of getting work are easier because of the contacts/internships you get... I never really suggest getting an art degree at a vocational school. You spend all that time and money, then you come out, what do you do with your degree? Nothing really, and you have school loans to pay.
