I just started looking into creating videos, as I am a VJ, and I want to be able to make my own loops for preformances. I have a macbook pro with final cut studio 2, and will be buying a semi-professional grade camera soon (looking into either the Canon GL2 or Sony DCR_VX2100). Does anyone have any suggestions for references or guides to the theory cinematography, and video editing? Thanks.

Cheers.

It's a little dated, and a pretty "dry" read, but "The 5 C's of Cinematography (http://www.amazon.com/Five-Cs-Cinematography-Picture-Techniques/dp/187950541X/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223362636&sr=8-1)" is definitely the bible.

Most VJ stuff I've seen tends to be pretty unconventional..
