Well by reading old posts and discussions of seniors i have come to know that sales agent are better to deal with while selling a movie. i wanted to know as i read if we sell our movie to distributor then it should be of that specific genre. suppose if my movie is comedy genre then i should contact a distributor who deal in this genre distribution.

I wanted to know even sales agents can be categorised on genre basis? like if i am thinking to contact a sales agent (instead of distributor) for my comedy movie there will be sales agents specifically dealing in comedy genre?or sales agents aren't devided on genre basis?

To a large degree you are correct. But you have it a little backwards.

If you have a comedy you won't contact a distributor that ONLY distributes
horror. Or a sales rep that specializes in action. However, you will contact
all the other distributors and sales agents. You should start with distributors
and sales agents who specialize in comedy and then approach distributors
and sales agents who work in all genres.
