Canon XL1 with a broken tape head, should I Sell/Fix/Trash

I have a Canon XL1 with a broken tape head and am in a quandry over what to do with it. first of all it will surely cost a bundle to fix but would it be worth it seeing as though it is pretty much considered obsolete? Its also in PAL format which would make it a little harder to sell over in the states. or would it be worth taking apart and selling the components? the lens is pretty good after all.

could anyone give me advice or perhaps an offer for it.
 
Do you have the 3x wide angle lens? If you decide not to fix it and have that lens, I may be interested in buying that lens from you.

You can call Canon and get an estimate. If it costs more to fix than to replace the body, I'd just upgrade. That 16x lens should sell fine on E-bay. And you may be able to sell the body for spare parts.
