It's rare for filmmakers to charge by the hour. Typically they use a day rate.
A director with a bit of experience ( a few finished feature films) can get
$200 to $2,500 per day depending on the total budget. A director without
any finished feature films can't charge that much. A director working under
the DGA agreement will get at least the minimum. I have an older rate
card, but it lists a weekly rate of $13,358 with a guarantee of 2 weeks prep,
10 weeks shoot and 1 week cutting.
