Ok so I filmed the whole remake of Psycho and we have this intense and suspenseful chasing scene (in a house) where would I go to find free music for that intense scene? Just somewhere free or would someone recommend me what type of suspense music I should have? Thanks!

Not that it does you any good, but Garage Band makes it pretty easy to score your movie and time everything perfectly to the action/edits. it comes with lots of loops, sound effects, etc. I purchased a USB keyboard that I'm slowly learning to play, so I can compose simple suspense tracks that are timed for my project.

Now, back to something that might help you ... do you have any musician friends? You might find that they are happy to play you a little something for a movie credit. I hate to ask people to do things for me for free, but I know several people who have offered, and one of them is really good. What you need isn't complicated, is just has to set the mood. (You can easily do a normal audio recording from a normal old piano.)

Sorry I can't offer any more suggestions. I'm sure there are web-sites that offer free clips. I'm just not sure if you can find something that is going to be a good fit.

oak.

if my friend played his guitar. Do I just get a shotgun mic and hold it infront of him and record it on my camera then upload it to my editing program? OR is there an easier way to get my friend's music onto my film.

There a lot of free sound sites, but the most useful I've found is this one where everything is on a creative commons license.

For sound FX this is useful:

If you're looking for a PC program to create your own music... this is a good entry level piece of software

and here for free loops

and here for a tutorial

Not free, but the Sony Media series has a CD called Paranormal Sound Design that might fit your needs. I have this CD and it is quite good.

Or maybe this (remember they give you a discount on your first order, substantial)
