Good article. The future of this industry is so uncertain right now -- I think we're all going to have to get used to the idea that the only thing separating a "big feature" from a "short" will be length, not how it's distributed. The good news is that it becomes more democratic, the bad news is that the signal to noise ratio gets more than a bit disturbed. Consumers are looking for easy choices to make -- when there's only 12 movies in a theater, that's pretty straightforward. When you've got a milliion movies online available to you, suddenly it becomes more of a chore. When the industry finds a way of making the selection process as easy for the consumer as when you're standing in line at the movie theater, then you'll see the dawn of the new internet indie movie age.
